Welcome to the Midwest Double Reed Society.
The MDRS is an organization dedicated to supporting the needs of oboists and bassoonists throughout the Midwest.
Announcements:
The seventh annual MDRS Double Reed Festival will take place October 4-5, 2008 and features guest artists Linda Strommen, professor of oboe at Indiana University, and Jeffrey Lyman, professor of bassoon at the University of Michigan.
Also at the festival, our commissioning project comes to fruition with a recital of the works on October 5 at 3:00. For more information on the project, please see the commissioning page.

Twenty-First MDRS Young Artist Competition
Our thanks go out to Celeste Johnson of Oklahoma State University for making our Twenty-First Young Artist Competition a great success. For a list of winners, please visit our competition page. The next MDRS Young Artist competition will be held April 18, 2009 at the University of Missouri—Kansas City, hosted by Marita Abner and Barb Bishop. For more details on this event, check our site in February 2009.
